Goldenrod Parlor is a collective of stylists who share a love for the craft of hair and the desire to better the hair industry. We are a salon that values creativity, community, individuality, sustainability, and most importantly, GOOD ASS HAIR.
Our salon is unique in that all of our stylists specialize in services that they love doing. When a client visits our salon, they will see someone who enjoys and specializes in the service they are seeking. Our stylists also charge hourly for their services, rather than a la carte pricing seen in most salons. this ensures that our team is making a living wage and is also able to eliminate the need to depend on tips. we are also a gratuity free salon!
Goldenrod Parlor is a registered Green Circle Salon. It was a non-negotiable to open a salon and not do our best to be as sustainable as possible. Being “sustainable” can’t be perfect in the beauty industry, but by joining forces with Green Circle Salons and a local sustainable lifestyle store, Life Unplastic, we can decrease our waste impact by 95%.
We are also a Dresscode Project registered Safer Space salon. You won’t find gendered pricing on our menu. We believe stylists should charge based on their time spent behind the chair, not gender. All people and textures are welcome here at Goldenrod.

I’ve been a hair stylist for 15 years. For the past 9 years, I owned and operated my own salon suite, which grew very fast and life + work got extremely busy. By Feb 2020, I was working endless hours, dealing with multiple back + migraine issues, double booking every single client, and barely making ends meet. Howdy! My name is Avin (i went by alf for a long time, so if you're looking for him- thats me!) and I’ve been a hairstylist for the past ten years. The first four years of my career were spent in rigorous apprenticeships only focused on haircutting, and when I moved to Gainesville six years ago, started doing color as well.
My biggest focuses over the last several years, have been curls, texture, and euphoric hair for the LGBTQ community. My goal is to give hair that feels happy and powerful to our underserved communities, and desegregating/degendering the salon experience is my passion.
I love educating clients on how to care for their hair at home, to help them reach and maintain their goals, as well as giving you cuts or colors that grow out easily and beautifully. As a beauty shop baby, I basically grew up in the salon, but I officially became a stylist 12 years ago. I am forever grateful to have the opportunity to meet amazing new people and help them fall in love with their hair over and over again. It's it truly a an honor and a joy! While working behind the chair, I also pursued an education in linguistics, Chinese, and teaching English as a second language at UF. The way I meld my passions is by using my teaching skills to educate clients on how to care for their hair at home so that they feel confident and amazing long after they've left the salon.
